8 V – Mastery
Mastery is when you have accomplished a skill
completely. You have put all the time
and effort into it, so that you are exceptional at that skill. You dominate at it, with complete confidence
and expertise. It takes years of hard
work at whatever skill you are trying to master, in order to consider yourself
a master at something. This relates to everything we are learning about in
class. In order to master something you
need to exhibit motivation, persistence, and to be able to deal with
failure. You must be patient waiting for
the delayed gratification, which you will gain when you accomplish mastering
whatever you are setting out to accomplish.
“Nobody is
“great” without lots of work. Early aptitude is not a predictor for greatness
in a given field without consistent practice over a long period of time.”
Distinction: is a difference that you can see or
hear. It is when there is an obvious
difference between people.
Deliberate: to consider something very thoroughly,
in order to make an informed decision.
