What I am thankful for
I am thankful for my family, and spending the
holidays with my family. It was very
nice to go home and spend time with my family, and the holiday traditions that
we have. My great-grandparents come up from New York for thanksgiving. They are
ninety and ninety-two years old. We go
to my grandparents for dinner. Everyone
asks me about college. In listening to
my great grandparents talk about how life was when they were my age, it made me
very thankful for everything I have and the opportunities that I have. Life is
certainly a lot different now than it was over seventy years ago. I hear them
talk about when they got their first radio in their house when they were young,
and how they got their first television.
It makes you more appreciative for what you have. For example, they were amazed at my brother’s
I-pad and how it worked. They were even
playing solitaire on it, which was really something.
I am thankful for the fact that I am able to
attend college and for my college experience at Southern. I have struggled a
bit during my first semester at college.
It has taken me a while to get adjusted to balancing my time in order to
get everything done that I have to, but I believe I am doing better. I want to succeed in college and strive to have
a good future. I look at my great
grandfather, and he had a great job as an accountant and has been retired for
over 30 years. In my opinion he is
someone to be thankful for. He provided
a great role model to our family. I
enjoy spending time with them and hearing the stories of how things were years
ago, and realizing how much technology has evolved over the years.
